1998 Tour of South Africa
Brynteg's first southern-hemisphere venture. Keith Crockett at the helm, Pete Cavalli as tour manager and Steve Hiscocks, Paul Bowen, Wayne Morris and Rob Sage as assistant coaches. James Bater captained the side, with 1997 captain Gareth Williams returning a year after leaving school to play flanker. Fixtures included Paarl Gim and the Tygerberg township — and by Gareth's memory the tour party never tasted defeat.
